KTW (Testing and Testing Accreditation of Non metallic Parts in German Drinking Water Industry) represents the authoritative department of the German Federal Health Department for drinking water system material selection and health assessment. It is the laboratory of German DVGW. KTW is a mandatory regulatory authority established in 2003.
Suppliers are required to comply with DVGW (German Gas and Water Association) Regulation W 270 “Propagation of microorganisms on non-metallic materials”. This standard mainly protects drinking water from biological impurities. W 270 is also the implementation norm of legal provisions. The KTW test standard is EN681-1, and the W270 test standard is W270. All drinking water systems and auxiliary materials exported to Europe must be issued with KTW certification.
